Squidoo Seo Series (Part 4 of 5) – Building Links within Squidoo

by lloydpinto on May 15, 2011

In Part 3 you learnt about Off-page SEO for Squidoo. You’ve probably realized by now that building links is one of the cornerstones of SEO that will help get your Squidoo lenses ranked well in the Search engines.

You don’t have to look much beyond Squidoo to get started on your linkbuilding strategy. Here are 4 ideas to build links within Squidoo itself that will help you kickstart your backlinking plan:

  • Lensroll: Use the lensroll feature to link your related lenses. There is no limit to how many lenses you can lensroll to. If you have 10 lenses and all of them are on the related topics, you can lensroll 1 of those lenses to each of the other 9 lenses. There – you’ve just got yourself 9 links.[EDIT: this feature no longer exists on Squidoo]
  • My Lenses Module: Another easy method to build links within Squidoo is to use the “My Lenses” Module. You can choose the number of lenses you wish to show in this module.
  • Tagging: This is another method to get some good links from the squidoo tag page. Check out this lens for some great info on Squidoo Tags by Lensmaster Spirituality
  • SquidU: If you are not on SquidU- get there today. You can post your lenses in the critique me forum and get direct feedback on your lenses. Needless to mention, you should use good anchor text as a link to your lenses – so these posts will also contribute as a backlink. The other feature you should use is the squidu forum signature. You can link to some of your lenses from this signature. More info on this lens here – Forum Signature.
  • These are ideas you can put to use today and get some quick links to your Squidoo lenses.

In Part 5 -which will be the final post in this series– we shall talk about some advanced link building techniques called Linkwheels.

    • I'd like to point out that the Lensroll feature has been removed from Squidoo. Never tried the My Lenses Module, I like creating a series of 5-10 Lenses on a particular topics, along with a Lensography and insert the links manually using the featured Lenses module. A bit time consuming but I like it that way.
